A few years ago, diesel cars was always bought for their good mileage and cheap diesel etc. But in this day and age, with the price of petrol and diesel, is it actually cost affective owning a diesel over a petrol car for mileage? Just a thought..

Probably not, but I far prefer my TDi than the old wheezy petrol. Cost me more to buy than equivalent petrol, but just as nippy and almost exactly the same to run - certainly not more expensive.

I like my diesel because I can fill it up & get 500+ miles from the one tank & still have good performance. Show me a petrol car that can offer that.

That said, I prefer the power deivery & sound of a nice petrol engine & cannot wait to move back to petrol.

A diesel certainly has its advantages if you do a lot of miles though.

I do nearly 20k a year motorway miles. I would say 50/50 as yes i have enjoyed a really good MPG, I have just had to spend £1500 on the engine which took the shine off the MPG

I have 2.0 Hdi

Wish I could borrow a 2.0 petrol for a couple of weeks just to see the difference in miles/price to fill up/speed etc

I like the way turbo diesels drive so I would probably stick with a diesel even if I did less miles.

I'd love a 330d or 335d. Thats what I'm aiming for one day!

Mine's fantastic, I would definitely consider a diesel again, not saying I'd definitely have one, but I wouldn't shun the idea straight away like I used to.
