Looking at getting one for a present for the parent types, as the one they have is bust (has been for a while)
Not looking at spending mega bucks, but just wondering if there are any suggestions or things worth looking out for?? (other than a decent warranty package)
It's not a fixed unit, but a standalone which is required. And is it worth measuring the old unit to find one which will be a straight swap size wise??
Also, whats the deal with those old adverts I saw a while back where Curry's take away the old appliance for free...

generally they come in to sizes.
600mm wide (fullsize) or 450mm wide (slimline).
Just check the size of hole the existing one fits into.
Also look at the economic rating of the new one, and if you feeling green get an A rated machine.

before i could not be arsed to wash the dishes...

I have a Bosch and it's been great. I bought it on recommendations because it's quiet. My parents have had a few over the years and they said that was the best because you can't really hear it when it's on.

So true. It used to be a pain in the arse to do the dishes...now it's a pain in the arse to load the dishwasher which takes a fraction of the time.
Although I do like to give the plates a swill under a running tap before they go in the dishwasher...

My mum does that to stop the waste pipe getting clogged up. Her machine is built into the kitchen units and has been in there for nigh on 10 years now, 1 breakdown and when the engineer came out he thought it was only about 3 months old, it looks that new inside 
I still have to wash up by hand in my own house though, give me a bigger kitchen and a dishwasher will be right in there

i dont even bother clearing the plates just chuck in in
I did make an epic fail when installed it though!!!
The waste connection had a blank on it, i just connected the pipe off the dishwasher onto it then spend 2 weeks trying work out wiy it would not empty!!!!!

Bought a new one in the Jan sales, a Kenwood built-in jobby. £220 
A-Rated cleaning and efficiency too.
But absolute bugger to get the kitchen door to fit properly to the dishwasher, theres about 50 random holes on the back of the door now
