Got a letter saying someone has applied for the logbook and there just checking its not been stolen or whatever. What else would you want the log book for other than to get it road legal again?

Thing is there was a LOT of damage to it, fixing it would cost a fortune! All the front end needed replacing inc clam, lights, crash box, rad etc and then the pedal box was ripped out of the bulkhead as well ]

Probably, theres no other reason!!

The insurance company would sell it on. Happened to my mates BMW, smashed it & it passed him on the motorway a few months later.

You should ask them.. I'd want to know why the car is still registered in my name if they wrote it off.

What does the letter say? Does it ask you to do anything or just to inform you?

And who is the letter from? Your insurance company or the DVLA?

u2u pow. He crashed his Ibiza which was a Cat C write off, therefore the insurance gave him a cash/monetary pay out. I think it was then put back on the road.

text the reg plate to 83600 and it will text back a hpi check and tell you all you need to know for about 2 quid.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

It was only Cat D

I hope you got a nice pay out if they aren't repairing it but have sold it on.

But Cat D is hardly anything. From your description, that should have been C at least.

They repaired a VX220 on Wrecks to Riches on Discovery Turbo channel. That needed a new clam and this that and the other and they still managed to get it back on the road for a respectable amount.

It was the garage that told me about the damage to the bulkhead and that, maybe they told me some porkie pies? Not sure what they would gain from it though, unless its the garage that have now bought it
