Not posted an update on here in a while.

Technically / biologically / in the doctors eyes etc etc Rachael is now out of her coma, but is my no means well.

In my eyes she is still in a coma, as she still doesnt recognise anyone or anything. Her eyes follow movement sometimes, and she reacts to voices and touch, but that is it. She still has a vacant look about her 24/7, and her whole right hand side doesnt move. I know is going to be a long road still, but it is looking kind of like she will never be anywhere near the same person ever again, and will probably need full time permanent care.

Tomorrow will mark 5 months since her crash.

Thanks for your time folks.

Stay strong mate, it cant be easy but you need to be positive. I hope she makes a full recovery, doctors can do some pretty amazing shit these days. Thanks for the update, let us know is there is any improvement.

Great news that she's awake.

It must be hard seeing her like that. I'm sure she'll have good days and bad days though.

I remember after my mum had her brain hemorrhage she was blind for a few days due to excess pressure on the brain, then she got her sight back, but she didn't recognise me my dad or brother and she could only say a few words. Its soo wierd seeing someone like that.

Hope things turn out alright in the end

i am reading Richard Hammonds On the Edge biography of what happened on his road to recovery follow his crash.

it is co written by Mindy is wife and taken me on an emotional trip. not sure how much it will help but is a very inspiring read and if you havent worth i would anyone to read it, maybe more so in this example reading what someone else went through

I have a copy of it but ive never got round to reading it. I think Rachaels situation as far more serious than Richard Hammonds. I dont mean that in any kind of disrespect, but in a factual sense.

Clearly she is worse than Richard Hammond.

But it seems to be slowly creeping towards the better side mate.

Keep your chin up, and stick by her.

from the little i know on the situation it would seem Rachaels situation does seem more serious, but thought i would offer it as an indication of what someone else has been through, more from Mindy's point of view so you can recognise that the feelings and emotions you are having are not unusual. your friends and family will of course be there to help i am sure but sometimes having words from someone who has experienced it can reassure you, prehaps not in the patients case in this example, but from the family who deal with it. you can take a lot of strength from what Mindy went through

Must have been hard to write the words above, I just hope she is on the right path to recovery now. Keep stong for her, Something I think goes without saying - Your love for her must be very strong knowing that you have stuck with her through her coma, and on to her recovery.

I wish her all the best.

dude i was in the same situation as you when my sister was in a coma, although she is appearing to be on the mend, i will tell you that during the bodys rehabilitation process, it will seem that she improves then decreases, but this is normal as the body acclimatises to changes and new things.

on a personal note, and take this how you will, i found that if you take things to her that she may recognise, sometimes it can cause stress and make her agitated. with my sister we just played music to her and chatted, but i made a mistake by taking her a teddy she had since she was a kid, it triggered memorys and she was frustrated that she couldnt 100% grasp where the memory had come from

all the best dude, i know first hand exactly what you are going through.
