Heard it was a BP platform, so wouldve been a BOND chopper. Havent heard what platform it was though. I got home last night, thankfully!
All safe and well but mustve been a fucking scary experience! Especially as it was near the platform

Jesus, hope no-one i know was on it. They might be okay, but that'd be a dodgy situation to be in.
I know quite a few people who work off-shore.

Ive got a wee tip that im getting taken on by Shell, based upon previous years recruiting.........we'll see. tbh i'll be happy to work for any of them as long as im offshore, wages are genarally the same across the board its just the bigger companies give you a better package of benefits.

It was two of our DELTA ARRC's [Autonomous Rescue and Recovery Craft](part of BP's Jigsaw project) which were tasked in to the scene to recover/rescue those on board

That sea water has made their heads look like yellow balloons, I hope those guys recover!
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Saying a super puma in all the press coverage, the Bond chopper involved was part of the search & rescue.
God knows, bloke I work with dad is on the BP ETAP rig involved & one of our guys will be going to it in April.

Bond choppers operate to all the BP fields as far as im aware, thats why im thinking it was Bond.

Most accidents are caused by human error so most probably the pilot, but could be a bird strike or mechanical failure.
Most of the crashes i seen in my time in the RAF were human error. the rest bird strikes.

It's reassuring that you have to wear a survival suit when you go on a helicopter ride across the north sea out to a rig. That and most the helicopters are equipped with floats so that when they crash into the sea they don't instantly sink
