Hi guys, currently got a powerflow centre section with a small silencer to avoid raspyness and a magnex 5x3" back box...

It's loudish, bassy, no rasp at all... but I want something a bit more rorty, rally stylee without being raspy and gay.

I had a magnex decat on once, sounded stupid, all depth to the sound kinda disappeared and it rasped loads...

Wondering if a mild steel ashley system would fit the bill?

I've already got that backbox on mine... I'm led to believe that a straight through centre will make things raspy though?

Not sure a magnex middle will make it louder, just quieter as my middle silencer is quite small lol.

Think I'm gonna try a different back box for the time being and go from there.

I had standard cat - remus racing centre section - sportex 4" box and it was loud and raspy so now ive got silenced piper s/s decat (2" bore) - scorpion centre section (2" bore) - Scorpion 3" box. Sounds smooth with a little burble, the viper innduction kit drowns it out if you give it some welly

Yeah it seems the x14/16xe engines get terribly raspy with no middle silencer.

I've got a "check up" at powerflow soon so gonna ask about an even smaller middle silencer, it's small diameter at the mo but fairly long so... will see what he says

Nice I'd have the system with centre silencer lol tis only a bullet one but will stop the rasp.

Something I forgot to ask, with the centre section... Had mine done at powerflow bent up more to clear rear axle...

Are aftermarket ones as per vaux spec? I.e. will they knock on the back axle due to lowering? Or did they cotton on to bend them up more?

Cheers

mines raspy as fook i hate it, full powerflow s/s straight through with decat, and 4-1 manifold, x16xe, so i wouldn't go for anything powerflow, and i'd stick with a middle silencer if i were you.

I've got a powerflow centre section as it is, but it's got a small silencer in it to avoid rasp

Just fancy a change from the cat back really, something more performance orientated.

by the sounds of it i have the same backbox as you, however i have the remus race tube aswel and pesonally i love the sound of mine

nice neep burble on idle and quite a deep tone on the throttle

has a really slight rasp to it but it is 97% drowned out by the deep tone of the backbox

and to answer the question about the pipe knocking on the rear axle due to lowering, i have mine dropped 60mm and my pipe has plenty of clearance on the axxle, i think it mainly depends on how well you fit the backbox m8
