Hlo all,
My 1.6 Sport usually runs around 92-93celcius on the dash which im happy about.
I recently had the cambelt and waterpump changed around 3000miles ago.
Iv noticed that once the car has been standing in traffic for a while the temp raises to around 96-97celcius on the dash which from what I understand its peftectly normal.
Earlier I was in a carpark trying to find a space and the temp reached around 96-97. Once I parked I poped the bonnet to see if the fan was moving to cool the engine, which it as but very slowly.
Is this normal? Does the fan rotate faster the hotter the engine gets?
My old 1.2 fan would kick in with fast RPM once the engine got hot, which makes me wonder why my fan was rotating slowly and if something was up?
Iv read that you can get something called a cool running thermostat? Where can these be bought from and where are they located? I read that you can add one but the fan still kicks in at 95+ as the fan operates off the dash temp? Is this true?
All advice would be great!
Thanks in advance
Sorry for the essay!

Mmmm, it was moving slowly and pushing out a small draft.
Think I will get a cool running stat, fit it and see how it goes.

The fan should only have ONE speed as they are relay controlled and can only be on or off..

Tbh imo ud be better off just wiring in a switch so that you can turn the fan on and off when you want. If you fit a cool running stat the engine isnt going to get that hot is it?
