bought a pioneer radio today. mp3 ipod control and all that stuff. was 150 odd quid. plugs into car no problems everything works, everything is great. except.....it cant read my ipod. comes up as n/a usb. bollocks. tried mates ipod, his wifes ipod, another mates iphone, putting music onto usb stick all works perfectly. it just cant pick up my ipod for some reason. ive re-formatted it to pc one as i use a mac thinking that might help. nope. restored it and updated it again, nope. it still works as an ipod, plug it into anything else and comes up as my ipod. just not the radio.
what the hell is going on? its an ipod photo 30gig one. i mean its maybe 3-4 years old. is it just too old for modern technology?
and stuff

or alternatively, check the spec of the radio to see if its compatible with the firmware on your ipod...

there arent instructions for the headunit as such. they are on a cd though will dig it out and find out.

I bought one, I was dubious, but it's an excellent bit of kit, works fine with all apple accessories and cd players.
and delivery took 6 days,
For the price I couldn;'t not buy it
I've just negotiated buying 20 off him for a cheaper price

Ive done some digging for you and I think your HU is a 'basic' USB reader. As in it can read music from a stick as its filepath is root/music/file, where as an Ipod changes filenames and hides the files within hidden folders of other hidden folders, also your Ipod is unlikely to be already set up as a Flash drive

it works with all other ipods ive tried with it. just my own ipod it doesnt work with.
i have tried 2 nano's
1 60gig old style
1 30 gig same as mine old style
1 ipod touch
1 something else ipod thing
1 iphone
all work perfectly well.

O and if you change your Ipod to a flash drive and have simple file directory then the Ipod interface cant find the files, so you then have a big mem stick

ive restored it on itunes on a mates pc thinking it was maybe as it was an apple formatted ipod causing it problems as i use a mac at home. it wasnt. so came home, restored it again and updated it, still doesnt work but works fine as an ipod in anything else like the soap box, the ps3 etc
