I've been asked to see if I can restore the following photo.

Its the only known photo of the two people (father and daughter) in existance.
If all is successful, the finished article will be blown up, printed on a canvas and given to the daughter for her birthday. So i'm really determined to get somewhere with this.

Yeah. I've not really started the people yet.
I'm just gonna do it bit by bit, and hopefully it will all fit together nicely.

I've never really done anything like this before, so i'm not expecting it to be great, but the original image is pretty rough even for a restoration job.
Its turning out to be more like a reconstruction job.

I've got a funny feeling they're going to be quite odd looking

I've got 2 eyes, a mouth and some skin on the girl, but its going to be hard to get the rest like it i think.

I don't get what you mean?

That effect would make things look worse

I was basically saying make it look 'arty' then you don't have to restore to make it look real/true to life.

Never mind,

Think the grass needs to be lighter, looks like it was really sunny. Just a thought, what youve done is really good. At work we would charge about 80 quid for this finished.

I'm doing this for free, but the guy said, if I manage this he'd maybe be able to send some more work my way.

Who do you work for butler, and what do you do?

Here another update.

I really want to sharpen their facial features or make their faces less blurry somehow, but since I don't really know what they really like (in detail) its quite hard.

And to show how far its come along so far...
