i know its a corsa forum and im asking about a micra but its just a quick one. can this be done? asking about my friend from works car its an old shape one, not the boxy one the rounder one. it has a NATS immobiliser with a transponder in the key but is working intermitently.
is it possible to just remove the ring in the ignition once the cars already started? then it would be disabled?
cheers!

if you remove the ring in the car once its started, it'll probably Shut down. Or if it does keep running, then the next time your come to start the car, it wont work as the be no transponder reciever :/
Also i belive its a legal requirement for the car to have an immobliser after 1996 or 98.
Why would you want to remove it anyways, if it dont work fix it :s

fixing it will cost more than the cars worth! the only reason i thought about this was because i know with early saoxo's if you start the car and unplug the keypad immobiliser then turn thw car off the immobiliser is then innactive, hoped it was the same with the transponder ring with the micra

Its like the 95> vauxhall transponder imobolisers, its part of the ECU system so if the ECU doesnt receive the code from the tranponder reader the ECU doesnt come on line thus you CANT bypass it.
A handful of ECU's can be virginised but it costs alot of money to get a auto locksmith to do this.

Theres ways around this...
Tape the chip to the ring, or replace the ecu, ring and chip.

That wont make a blind bit of difference... he's got a fault with the system so that needs looking at first.
Either take it to alarm specialists or take to Nissan... only way really.
I'd help but you dont live local!
