Oh yes...
went to see this last night, its nearly 3hrs but doesnt seem that long when your watching it.
Very violent with rape scenes, people getting hacked up etc etc
Sticks very closely to the book, even takes a lot of dialogue direct from the book. The characters are done very well, very very well
They do change the ending of the film compared to the book but then i dont think people who havnt read it would really get it.
Personally i loved it.. Would go see it again thats for sure.
9/10 from me
GO SEE IT !

Saw it last night, enjoyed it. Liked the philosophy and sociology, bit of thinking involved, especially around the rawshach character. The lead ladies suit was quite appealing too. Shame we got to the cinema early doors and was sat down a good 30 mins before the trailers started, started to get a bit uncomfortable.
No need for some bits though, bit where he puts meat cleever in his head etc.
Didn't know anything about the film before hand.

posted a thread a few days ago about this as i saw it on saturday. Thought it was ok but, as non-comic book reader, i was pretty confussed for the first 30 minutes or so and to be honest still am a little. Although my comic book loving friend agrees with it staying close to book/comic, although agreed that it feels a tad weak.
And the special effects are good, but go compare it to films like Transformers and some scenes look cack, especially scenes of Dr Manhattan - some of them are just damn right awful.
Still, it's worth seeing

I was a bit lost at the start too.
The other problem I there has been too many similiar stuff recently, super heros, world ending stuff, greater good and all that, seemed a bit like heroes.

yeah but Watchmen was written in 1986 so pretty much everything else that has come out since owes a little something to this book
it would have been impossible to stick to the book 100% cos it would have lost most of the non comic book audience. so they had to almost rush the intros of the characters which made it hard to get into. Have heard that the DVD will be 5hrs long !!
Think Zack Snyder (director.. bloke who did 300 as well) wanted it to have a 80's movie feel to it so didnt go all out on super special effects (well thats what i read anyway)

I went to see this on friday and it's got to be one of the best I've seen, or atleast one of the films I've enjoyed most. I wasn't aware there was a book so I might look it up
Deffo worth a watch

went and saw it again last night
still an amazing film, and you'll be suprised how much you miss when you watch it, and obviously everything fits into place so much easier (still couldnt watch the axe to the head and the circular saw scene )
