Last weekend me and my mate drove up to Bristol, cash in hand to buy a little something for my car.

There it is at an M4 service station just after we picked up the booty:

Anyway they've been sat in my garage all week and we finally had time to get going yesterday.

It took us 4.5 hours on Saturday just to do the back, but there's a reason for that. One of the bushes was wrecked so we had to get that out and use one of the standard ones.

Pics:

It had split about half way through and gone to the sides as well.

The bolt on the car they came off had rusted on or something so it had to be hacksawed off

Removing the bush from the old shock and the new ones meant leaving it in soapy water for about half an hour:

Like so.

Then the vice came in handy:

We ended up using different makeshift stuff to get it out but I couldn't get pics - hands were full

To get it into the new shock, simply greased it up and in it slipped

Now just some pics:

And then the back was done:

But seeing as it was 6pm and we were a bit worse for wear, it was called a day.

Fortunately the front only took about an hour and a half today, that included taking the wheels off and putting them back on and all the jacking etc.

Before:

After:

A couple of pics before it had settled/been sat in/driven:

And outside a council building we discovered today (taken on phone as forgot to take camera):

Nice, not sure I like the look of the rusty splits above the bushes though Or is it just paint?

And I even like the steel wheels for some reason

Cheers

It's just where the paint's come off, there's a bit of rust here and there as there will be but nothing too bad I don't think.

The steelies are an interim until the Softstars are fixed

Alan: Sending it off when I get paid at the end of the month

It hadn't settled in the decent finished pics, it's at 60mm all round.

Phone pic is horrible quality

Better ones after it's been washed

One of them has a small scratch but only the one has a dent. Looked at it today and it's not really that bad, should be easily fixed.

The rear seems super bouncy though, not sure if it's because the shocks are set to stiff or because they're Gmax springs () But one of hte stiffness adjusters is stuck

You and me both mate

Also next month is an Ashley backbox

Gotta take it careful over speedbumps now - the bolts on the middle silencer are a bit long And the front mudflaps are scratched along the bottom now Oh, and when I took it off the drive, the front splitter had a conversation with the road. They didn't get on.

Banded would be megalolz Don't have the money for that Not if the Softstar's getting fixed.

I've been thinking all afternoon how it reminds me of "Euro'd" Polos

Oh yeah: That chunk of wood was one of my wheel chocks Worked surprisingly well

Scotty: Might make it Arden blue as opposed to "random light blue" Didn't like the black one so much and my mate has the exact same on in black so I went for blue.

You're probably right Luke, we were driving round for nearly an hour earlier, actually got used to it

It amplifies every single stone though You'll think it's alright then a drain comes along and it goes pole vaulting. Going to try and make the shocks softer and see if that helps.
