I have looked into this but only briefly as this is an idea at the moment, house prices are on their arse atm and have been nagging the parents into buying another house to rent out
The house is a three bedroomed semi-detached and i am looking at expenses after rent
Council Tax, gas, electric, water + food stuff
What do people pay a month in a rented house after their rent, and if people don't mind, how much rent do you pay?

TV license, Sky, phone, net.
Then you'll obviously have the initial furnishing costs which soon add up when you include the small stuff.
As far as I am aware, you dont get any sort of discount, especially if the house is rented out and earning an income from it (infact they'd have to declare this no doubt).

TBH i don't think it is possible for us to do it, all the costs mount up and are too much but will still look into it and decide where we need to be
Although i do think this will be a non-starter

TV Licence 140 per year, sky anything up to £50 a month, phone will hardly be used so just basic rate and net isn't as much as it used to be £20 a month tops, but it does all mount up
Coucil Tax is around £1800 per year
Gas, Electric, Water i have no idea

Phoneline is something like £15 a month line rental, and then you'd be looking at £15+ a month for broadband.

£25 a month for virgin phone and broadband, would consider virgin TV with one of those boxes but virgin TV is shite

Virgin - £30
average food on own £25 a week atleast!
hope that helps a little! also another massive thing is upkeep! stuff like toiltettes,cleaning stuff! just keeping the place modern and nice
ive spent £4000 in 2 years just doing the place up and stil not started my gardens 
all costs i didnt think about before i bought!
next i just want a 1 bed apartment mate rented

Food shopping i dont know.. spent £150 on the 2nd of January and due for another now.. about £10 a week or so for fresh...
Car insurance/petrol/car maintenance needs to be included
Fxings and furniture

Personally with a 1st house if things are tight you should knock stuff like Sky on the head! Nice to have but not essential

Very true.. I use freeview and all I miss out on is Sky 1 and movie channels.. Never seen the appeal in paying silly amounts for sky..

if you have a phone contract with orange you can apply for broadband. ive just swapped from virgin to orange broadband and its £7.50 a month . nice little saving i think if anybody is interested.
you can run upto 6 wireless devices from the livebox also. ps3's, etc

Similar with 02 if you have a phone with 02 wether pay as you go or contract and its only 7.34 unlimited download as well. free wireless router and no installation fee.
Just moved and gone onto that seems very good especially for the price
