Luanda isnt a nice place. One BP guy got stabbed with a screwdriver They charge westerners stupid amounts for things.
$50 a lettuce
$20 a cumcumber
$30 a bottle of water...
what ever they can get away with. They whole place is a corupt cest pit.
BP are having to pay a $150 a day fine for me being in the country for over 15days as my STV has run out. I must be on day 60 by now.

I see. I dont even know the full scale of operations out there, I never see the guy anymore as hes always at work or away abroad on holiday or something.
What is it your doing again, sesimic surveys was it? Has BP not this week found a new oil field near Angola? Im sure someone said that to me or maybe I made it up.

In that case I would have thought you'd be the one making the discovery?
Quite fancy working abroad at some point just not sure where/when. Whats your day rate for working in that shithole anyway? Think my mates on something around £500 a day..............absolute daft cash to be making at 24 yrs old!!

Doubt it, any plumping maintenance will probably be covered by a mech fitter or something.

Quite a hard industry to break into. My employers spent around £80k on my training over the past 20 months.
Ive got 6 weeks left until I start my actual job. I might be getting some news tomorrow actually regarding where im going to be working.
You make a decent wedge doing plumbing dont you?? Why you want to work offshore, its not a particularly glam job. The moneys good & you generally get looked after. However 2 weeks away sitting above the sea isnt for everyone, some of these installations are older than me so it depends alot on where you end up what the conditions are like.
