I just downloaded + installed it a few minutes ago on my laptop. Apart from the UI and a few things like the Privacy mode etc. doesn't seem any different to IE7?

I would go so far to say that it actually looks a little like Google Chrome (the tab bar, the bold highlighted domain name in the address bar, etc.).

I have been trying out Opera v9.something for the past couple of weeks or so, I do like the speed of it (similar to Chrome) but it keeps crashing on me, and AVG keeps detecting 'tracking cookies' with it.

It's a shame IE can't be as fast as Chrome when loading up etc. though.

Installed it, Still stinks of Microsoft. I have always felt the IE UI is aimed at businesses where people wont be surfing other sites and only within the companies intranet. Not sure why

Sticking to FF for now

I used to like FF, but it's IE slow!

I wish I didn't have to use IE, but considering around 65% of people use it, and I'm a web designer, I have to make sure sites work in IE (or should I say, write seperate CSS code for IE7 and earlier browsers which aren't completely standards compliant).

Nope, FF is now used the same amount as IE

Link to show ^

Everyone should use either latest ie or ff or be shot ! and have one set or standards across the board !

Those stats are based on who visits their site though (so they claim).

Yeah understandably thats just for W3schools site, however, the fluctuation is'nt going to be massive any more, it used to be 10% was ff, its popularity has grown masively. I think the only reason its still around is because people dont like change and like to keep to what they know.

I'm using it, the gold version hasn't crashed once yet, massive improvement from the RC.

IE still has the most users by a massive margin.

I use it because it's a good browser and works on every site I want to use it on, unlike most others.

Apart from the acid3 site obviously

its probally more to do with the fact ie comes pre-installed on windows as to why so many people still use it, well i would presume.

That'll be a major reason for it.

No matter why they use it it's still the most used though and it's still what you need your website to work on if you want it to work for the majority of visitors.

I got fed up of it's slowness.

I'm now using Apple Safari (on my Vista laptop). Fast and easy to use, hasn't crashed yet either...

I've had it installed for a couple of days. It's noticeably faster than IE7, so all good there.

I have it but after using google chrome and firefox for a bit now it seems odd to go back to. Doesn't seem as nice to use somehow.

Only thing I use it for is if I want to go on facebook chat

I prefer firefox for the reason that I can customise it however I want. Adblock (etc) that is, not colour schemes. Those are what are important to me, rather than brand loyalty.

I'm still using Safari!

Not crashed as yet, there are one or two things I don't like about it but can be remedied with an easy workaround (for example, sites that set their links up so that the page opens in a new window, normally I have FF and IE set to display that page in a new tab but in Safari it opens up in a new window, I guess it's only doing what it's being told by the web browser but I can easily sort that out by merging the windows).

You can use Privoxy to get AdBlock in any browser.

You've not been using the gold version that came out this week then.

I'd expect a beta browser on a beta OS to crash.
