About 3 I can think of, 2 in North Sea within the past few weeks, one a few years previous off Morecombe Bay. It is very rare.
I think all have been Bond Super Puma's, hopefully i'll be riding in a Bristow.

Thats probably due to the % of them used more than anything..
Reports are saying they suspect all 16 dead now.. Not good..

Yeah probably, if you've never been to Dyce airport you'll never appreciate how often these things are coming in & taking off. Theres at least 2 in the sky at any one moment & thats around the clock.
I expect BP will stop using the Bond choppers now, 2 crashes in as many weeks there not going to want a third no matter what the problem. It was calm seas & a very good day, no fog. It must have been mechanical failure!!

it's weird, most air craft seems to be falling out of the sky these days
I blame global warming / religion.
it is strange though... all these helicopters and planes that have crashed recently

Until 2 months ago you never heard of helicopters ditching
And if im correct, BOND only do BP flights. So if they lose the BP contract their kinda fooked
Thankfully I got home a week ago safe and sound
Just read 8 of the passengers were from my area, Grampian.

Do you feel uneasy at all going on your journey to and from the field now or are you not bothered by it?

After the last one I was ok, as it was the first time id heard of a chopper ditching in the north sea, and all were rescued safely. Dont really know how il feel in 2 weeks time when I go back
Worst thing is my family in particular really worrying about it

Poor guys, on there way home as well
Hope they recover the rest of the bodies soon, how tough must that be for their families waiting on them finding them, knowing their bodies are still at sea somewhere

Released figures today
there has been just under 100 lives lost in helicopter incidents whilst commuting to offshore platforms in the past 30 years
Our of 60 million people flying under 100 have died, so I would say they have a pretty good safety record.

Just proves what a tragic accident that was then if those poor cunts make up over 16% of all the deaths in 30 years.
Feel for their families tbh

Something must have gone seriously wrong for nobody to get out alive, the weather was supposed to be spot on etc so if there is a good time to ditch that would be it...

It wasnt a controlled ditch though like last time. Reports are it came down hard.
All the weight is up top in a helicopter, id imagine hitting the sea from 2,000ft would be similar to dropping a breeze block onto a shoe box.

Id suspect a broken gearbox is more likely to be to blame.

I suspect something similar, box was to blame for the Chinook disaster IIRC
