Hi all! I am wanting to do an engine swap for more power, and cos my x14xe is on its way out I think!
So im after a x16xe, and a bit of expertise, and maybe even some help if any of you fancy it?
Ive got no idea how to go about doing this really, got a couple of basic tools myself, but no engine cranes or impact guns or anything big like that! So if anyone fancies giving me a hand to earn themselves some extra money on the weekend!
Would really need help from start (picking and getting an engine) to firing it up for the first time! So could be quite a good earner for someone!
Also there is a dominos very close, and a fridge full of beers!
Thanks for any help guys!
Kris

Well as mentioned earlier i'm more than willing to help! Even if it's just to go for a domino's as could do with keeping my mind active!
Being pretty bulky i could probably help with majority of lifting and so on but im not experienced in the mechanical side but could be a good knowledge earner for me

Haha, thats cool!
Sounds pretty good to me!
I also rekon I will learn a lot from doing it.....if we can get sum one who knows what they are doing involved, otherwise it will just be me and you having a dominos staring at the engine!!
Thanks for the offer mate, will def let you know of any updates!

It would be quite easy, only thing that I dontg really know about is the gearbox side of things. I would guess you could just unbolt the gearbox from the block, and then drop the engine though the bottom or crane it out. Either that or drop the whole lot inc the gearbox.
You using you x14xe ecu, loom and sensors? Manifolds aswell?

Yeah don't see why not, i'd imagine a case of un do the bolts and re-bolt it to replacement block. If anything change the clutch for the sake of it and maybe 1 or 2 other things and ker-ching
AlanJ: You'll have to be pretty quick then to get it before me lol

If I was to do it I would have to do it over mine. Got the garage here if it goes dark aswell as all the tools. Could probably bring it to me in the morning and have it back the next day. Only problem is if something goes wrong I dont want to be held responsible

Well there we are Kris sorted.
What you should do is make the 1st of it's kind.
Find a 1.6 sport that's a category D write off, use it's 1.6 engine. Discard your 1.4 BUT stick a 1.0 in that 1.6 shell then you'll have unknowingly have made the very first "WAKER"

Hey!!
Sorry lads, couldnt get on here last night!
But this is sounding pretty damn fantastic! Cheers for badgering dean for me steve!
There would be no probs in getting my car over to your garage mate, everything still works on it, just it sounds rough as anything!
Yeah, I would keep all the same loom and everything, but I do have a brand new clutch sitting here, so that would be cool to do at the same time (if possible) and im not really sure about the gearbox, whichever would be easiest really!
How come youve got a spare x16xe then mate?
And what sort of mileage/condition is everything on it in? Any work been done on it?
And no worries, wouldnt hold you responsible mate, unless theres a massive dent in the boot lid or something! haha
Thanks for helping out lads!

Ahh ok, I see!! That would be a cool way to spend a day! Hopefully get to learn something about engines too! lol
A "waker" idea sounds cool though!! Not really sure what the point would be, but one hell of a laugh!! Most of the saxos around Bridgend have taken the idea of "doing up" a car with a stupidly small engine though! hahaha
Dominos ftw!

But just to make you aware though Kris, your engine bay should look something like this atm:-
So if and when you get Dean's X16XE lobbed in there it should look something like this then:-
