Amazing place, mainly because Irish women are fucking hot (most anyway) and going out around there is really good.
Down side - its expensive. But with you coming from a place where a pint costs a years northern wage I doubt you'll notice.

Expensive with the exchange rate.
Copy and pasted from a thread on a Celtic website the other day;
Dublin is well worth a few days of power touring. Its just a shame that people tend to go to templebar. No Irish people there just plenty rough pissed English slappers on hen nights and the usual stags and tourists. As long as skirt chasing isnt your priority and you like old style Irish bars and diddly dee music the best pubs are the ones off Graftons street like McDaids, Kehoes and pubs on Baggot Street like O'Donaghues, Doheny and Nesbitts etc. Guiness brewery is well worth a visit. I am not a republican by nature but I would recommend the trip to Kilmainham jail where Pearce etc were shot. Probably a must see if thats your bag.

Was a nice city, not the most stunning place I've ever visited though.
Guinness and Jamesons places were good, Kilmainham Jail is meant to be excellent. The Zoo was open but most of the animals were hiding. It is expensive as said. And you have to be extra careful wandering around town or you will be run over.
Get one of the green Dublin Bus tours if you want one, we used ours to get around like a normal bus, and we also worked out they don't check tickets so you can save money if you want to take a chance
Don't stay in a hostel, you may end up with a smelly German tramp like the girl from work did.
I think it depends who you go with tbh, I had a great weekend but I don't think it was all Dublin that made it fun.
