Just cut out on me in traffic, DizzyRebel's diagnosis was 'dannymccann-rides-like-a-puff-itis', apparently I dont rag it hard enough and the spark plug is now fouled and the engine flooded due to my cautious 7000rpm gear changes

Heres hoping it starts tomorrow

Did you take the plug off and give it a good scrub with the tool kit?

The toolkit has gone walkabouts, I replaced the BR10 with my (working) BR9 and it still wont start up, all I get is a feeble little rumble when Im pegging down the road with it trying to bump.

Ive also done a compression test and its barely reading, not good considering Dizzy did a top end for me only last week

Bad news text from Dizzy, could be looking at new barrel rest of top end done again, when he replaced the piston and rings last week he saw a tiny nick out of the barrel but said he has put worse back in other bikes and they are still going strong today, if its still fucked tomorrow he's going to have a look at it for me but Im bracing a £200 top end kit from PJME

Well like i said when i put it back together it was 50/50 if it would be ok with a scored barrel, usually it would seize again in the first 20-50 miles if it was going to though. Ive made bikes run with much worse barrels than yours so it will be interesting to see whats caused yours to stop running again, so its a case of check seals and reeds first - but ultimately it doesnt sound good.

We will have to see when you next have time to bring it round, wors comes to worse its a £200 top end kit, genuine aprilia bits would be over £600 though so be lucky mitaka rip off rotax parts lol.

Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. Like mine, you have to rag it at least once a day to clear carbon buildup. Dad keeps shifting through the box and trying to drive it in low revs, had to keep telling him over and over to change down.

I blame eco-wombles brainwashing people to save fuel by changing gear earlier

I always change the barrel anyways on mine. I used mitaka kit too and it was fine. Cheap fix really when you compare to car repair prices.

dont use mitaka, i rode a bike with a mitaka head onit and you could see the tempreture rise as you rode it, crap quality!
