whats the deal with taking stuff back to Asda because I dont need it
long story short
Xbox = 3 red lights so I need a cheap shit DVD player to put me on, I bought one of Asdas £15.99 specials, got home and my dad has bought a new one for the living room and said I could have the old one, normally I wouldnt winge over £15.99 but times are hard and I ve had no wages for 8 weeks and I have a holiday and track day I need to pay for
Can I just go in and say I bought this a few hours ago but whilst I was out my mum bought one too so I dont need this one can I have my money back, Or had I may as well save my diesel because they are going to tell me to jib it

nah they will take it back normally if you have reciept and havent opened it etc.
just use the excuse of either
you bought it and after reading up on it it doesnt do what it says
or
like you said someone else has bought you one so dont need it.

Don't say anything, if you have the receipt and it's un-opened just say you want your money back, you don't have to tell them why

Ive pushed the boundaries on what i have taken back on returns before
I refused at the chap who mixed building sand in his paint to gain some pretty effect
But he maintained thats how it came in the tub (obviously didnt realise receipts are itemised and when you buy 1 tub of paint and 1 bag of sand and return a tub of magnolia paint which was off colour and gritty it doesnt take a scientist to figure out what he tried to do )

I used to return completed xbox games back to GAME with their "10 day no fuss refund policy". They caught me and now they stick tape on the boxes before you leave the store.

Yea can take it back
shouldn't need an excuse but a good one is 'unwanted present'
say you bought said item for someone and they didn't like it or whatever

You dont need an excuse, you dont need to tell them your life story, just a simple "I dont need/want it now" is enough

Least they actually had what you wanted to buy.
I went to get Transporter 3 today, picked up the case, took it to the counter and they reckoned they hadn't got the disc in stock yet. Why put the bloody box on display then

I got a tin of glass from B&Q and it was proper shite!!
Got the finish on the skirting boards spot on and ready to paint. When i painted the paint would not dry, even after a week it was still damp in places. After a month it still was sticky to sand and put on another paint. So all in all, took me 6 weeks to get the paint as dry as possible and sanded back down to the wood. Really annoying and caused me several blood and water blisters.. A job that should have taken 2 hours maximum.
Possibly casued by some tight arse chav trick like you did
