hi when my gear box is geting hot i.e when the fan kicks in on my engine it seems to grind going into reverse but then when cooled down is fine any ideas

the fan has nothing to do with gearbox mate. they work off temp sensors in your radiator and in your thermostat housing.

You checked the transmission fluid levels?

As Davey said

When hot the fluid is thinner, check the fluid level in the box, if it's OK it might be a good idea to drain it and refill it as it may have the wrong fluid viscocity in the 'box.
