In the next couple of weeks i might be changing over my engine to a 2litre 8v, i already have the engine number and i will send the log book off with the new engine number, but ive heard that the change could take several weeks but i need to use the car as a day to day drive back to work.

i thought if i send the log book off to the dvla for arguments sake monday then get insured on it as a 2litre on the same day i sent it off, i might be able to drive it but then how would i go about doing the tax part of it?

Would you be able to go to the dvla in swansea and get it changed over there and then or not?

thanks

just go to DVLA office, they should take you old log book, give you new tax disk( you will have to pay for it obviously) and then send you new logbook.

Engineers report is down to your insurers and your peace of mind, totally up to you.

You are not really altering the chassis to fit the engine so I wouldnt bother.

Just drive it.
If you get stopped tell them its all insured as a 2.0 and youve sent the documents away to be changed.

I had to wait 4 weeks for them to change my log book to a 2ltr.
First off I set the V5 off with the new CC and engine number, I got a new logbook with the 1.2 engine still on and a cover letter saying they needed written proof.
I called them up and found out a letter from my local garage was enough.
All they need to know is the engine number and CC on letter headed paper.

No engineers report was needed.

Personally i'd just ring them up and ask.
That's what I did when they returned my first attempt. They're very helpful.

it does have to go to the head office mate. i took a afternoon off work to go to my local office. just to find out all they were going to do was send it off for me. i was a little pissed off as i waisted half a days pay as my local office is over half an hour away.
