flying out to boston in august so i do have a bit of time to research and look into things etc but im after things that can be used on a plane and will last about 8hours+
at the moment i have looked into
ipod touch 8gb - lots of music which is good as thats one of the main things i will want but limited on games to a degree and not sure how much it would get used once i got back...
samsung nc10 - would play music, could do films, has more potential for when im back to be used, but twice the price of the ipod which would take some money out of the spending money i plan on taking.
so anyone got ant other ideas on stuff?
Music is a must tbh
Games/other stuff to do, to keep me entertained is better
cheaper the better (but must be new)
oh and obviously plane safe

I would get the NC10. I could see the novelty of the Touch wearing off after you've been to Boston.

what about battery life? the laptop wont last long really.
i have a netbook, but tend to use a psp on the plane, you can stick loads of mucis and movies on it not to menton it plays games and extra batteries are really cheap.

Not out of those lots, but I took my N95 out with me to Portugal earlier this month. Ok, so the flight was only 2 and a half hours, but I could watch video and listen to music the whole way there and only lost one bar of battery out of 7 which I thought was pretty damn good!
I fully expected the battery die half way there, but no, even after and hour and a half of video, hardly any change!

PSP or a DS.
Can watch films and play games on PSP, decent sized screen. Games are a bit limited but some good PS3 ports coming out.
DS might have more fun as theres quite a few games, quite a few crappy ones too though!
For me it would be one of the above and an iPod!

I have a DS...a PSP and an NC10.
1. DS
Millions of games to choose from... as Marc said some really bad ones though...
Mario Kart is a must.
2. PSP
Some decent games...I love playing PES... can get movies for it too....
3. NC10
Netbook which lasts easily 7.5 hours. Can do anything on it really... Play Football manager which will eat into the hours... listen to music.
I am going to Turkey a week Saturday. Its just under 5 hours. Will be taking both the DS and the PSP but not the Netbook as I use it a lot at home and would be devastated if it went missing on holiday.

ds - I could get alot of games for it but had one before and was never really a fan.
psp - again wouldnt use it once i got back i dont think.
nc10 - still looking most likely but its bloody expensive . is it deffinatly usable on a plane?

Of course it is...it's a very small laptop basically...only it doesn't have a CD drive so movies would need to be downloaded before your trip...
Longevity wise the NC10 is the best bet although it is the most expensive.

Mine lasts about 7 and a half hours. Thats just browsing net / msn / the odd youtube vid.
Lasts about 5 hours when watching films, change the battery settings onto power saver mode though. You'll get to watch 2 films then.

Agreed...with normal web browsing I get 7.5 hours easy.
