Today i was out looking at the fish in the pond to see 4 fish chasing another around the pond constantly, after watching them for 15minutes it was clear they were biting the scales off the goldfish they were chasing.
We've taken the goldifsh out of the pond now and into somewhere on its own. It clearly looks to be dying, but i was wondering if anyone has any experience of this and what disease it may be, so we can either treat the dying fish or sort the pond out so we don't lose anymore.

Symptoms of the sick fish are?!
It could be purely terriortial...is the pond overstocked for its size? Do you have enough cover/hiding places in there for the fish to create their own territory?

Fish have been in there for about 3 years now, no new fish added recently and it's nicely stocked for it's size, plenty spaces to hide etc
The fish with the problem appears to have lost a good amount of its scales on each side of it, and this looks like it is from where the other fish have been attacking it.
Other than the scale loss, i can't actually see anything else wrong with it

Have the fish grown to be overstocked though, or is the pond still a good enough size for them all?
Have you checked out the water conditions with a cheap test kit? If you have the likes of high ammonia, etc. then the fish could have fin/scale rot as this is brought on by high ammonia levels.

Fish are fine, they have plenty room in the pond and the pond is a good size for them all to be in there with no hassle
We are going to test for ammonia levels in the morning, once we have a test kit

Thats all I can suggest at the moment.
Treat the attacked/ill fish with salt for the next few weeks until its healed and stronger agai and then reintroduce it to the pond. Just keep an eye for any bullying and all should be fine.

Possibilty, although it didn't matter where the fish went they all followed it around, three different fish types
If we have got some baby fish we better had find them quickly, we have a couple of decent sized carp that would eat them no fuss
