how do i remove the driveshafts from the gearbox? car is 1.4 16v is it a case of pulling or are they held with a circlip or something cheers

leaver bar FTW... or long screwdriver with a hammer normaly pops them out.. NS shaft can be a git to get out sometimes

ok didnt know how much greif to give it, wheres easiest place to disconnect gear linkage to get engine and box out in one?

ok on the box you will find the selection rod,
in the middle of that there is a pin.. bit of a git because you have to squees the bottom tof the pin as it has a locking tab pull the pin and disconect that part of the linkage from the box.
then you will see that there is some bushes with a funky clip on the top of them.. remove the clip (one on the gearbox) and there is one on the bracket that bolts to the subframe. then under the car unbolt the selector rod from the gear leaver (T55 torx bit) and wiggle it all off. and hay presto your linkage is completely out of the car and nothing is in the way

got shafts out ok now anyway, really should of had container for oil at the ready but hey its added some colour to the floor (amurtuers), will set on with linkage tommorow plus wiring??? not sure how to tackle this? is there a loom that goes round engine that i can just disconnect (it was like that on my 1.2 16v)? took inlet manifold of top and found what looks like this connector?
