I get leaflets through the door all the time & always bin them, however im with Virgin media & its pretty crap for £30 a month & tbh only have it for the broadband (but as requirements have to take phone line rental etc).
This last sky offer I got is for a free sky+ box, free installation, the usual pick what entertainment packs you want from £16.50 a month.
Then the interesting bit here is it says you get free broadband and calls.
Surely theres a catch here im missing

TBH, unless you're choosing Sky for the HD content, I'd reccomend Virgin over Sky anyday, just for the fact that you can get all the on-demand stuff. Plus they have Sky1 back again.
I used to work for Sky ( so had the full package for free) and they're a great company, just limited with the restrictions of satellite one-way bandwidth.

you can still pay line rental with BT unless you want it with sky,
its not a catch but they dont explain it, you are on virgin, so unless you already have a BT line you need a new one (£120) and then you need to pay line rental to BT @ £11pm for x months (contract period)
as soon as your out of your contract pay sky £10pm for the line rental.
as for the free calls, when i was there these were the packages which can be mixed up how you want BTW.
Sky TV - whatever you want here pay what you want
Sky Talk Freetime - £5pm gives you free evening/weekend calls standard rate during the day
Sky Talk Unlimited - £10pm gives you free calls all day everyday
Sky BB - £0pm - 2mb 2gb download usage PM
Sky BB - £5pm - 8mb 40gb download usage PM
Sky BB - £10pm - 16mb unlimited download usage PM (true unlimited there really is no cap on what you download)
so if you wanted £16.50 which is just '1' mix for example kids all the kids channels.. then fine.. but most people go for a '4' mix (Variety, News n Events, Style n Culture and Knowledge) this was £21 when i was there and 1 mix was £17

I have Sky with Music and Sky Sports. Do the 16MB Broadband and phone line too. Costs me £55.50 a month.
Had the Free 2MB Broadband for a while and they never complained about bandwidth.
People may thing £55 is a lot per month for Sports and Broadband but i look at it this way, each time i go round town, Matthew Street and Delta Taxi's take £50. Plus, my old man watches all the games so i get my moneys worth really.

That was my theory in getting sky. Was going out every sunday, spending £50 on booze/gambling.
Got sky HD with sports. (not internet or phone yet, waiting for contracts to run out then switching) £49 at the moment, full package, without movies, will be an extra tenner with BB and Phone

Phone Sky and say Im With virgin, DONT want to pay as much as you cant afford it. but would prefer SKY..
they will pretty much suck you off and give you a Great deal. tell THEM what you want and tell them a price you are willing to pay.
trust me it works.
when a company like them make 230M a year on monthly direct debit customers alone. they dont need to worry.

you wont get movies for an extra £1, its just the entertainment channels that are an extra £1
movies and sports are premium channels and cost a lot more.

You work for sky though don't you.
I've got everything but movies and sports, we get them every couple of months on the half price deals and nobody ever watches anything.
The rest of it is more than worth it though imo, I had to do without it for a couple of weeks and I missed things like the discovery channels and bravo.
Even though theres a lot of rubbish on there's always something to watch like an old wheeler dealers etc.

Colin my deal is:
SKY+ Box with all 3 variety mixes and All SKY Sports. I get free line rental (saving £11 or so a month) and free evening and weekend calls for the first 59 mins of each call. You just simply hang up then redial. I also get free BB 2MB which is fine for general web browsing and the occasional download etc.
All of the above for £37.50.

It is a deal. Its a bargain or arrangement for mutual advantage.
I think you are misunderstanding the context in which I have used the word "deal". I'm not David Dickinson.

Do you work for Sky? If so, then why do you have to pay £60/month?
