I'm sure i've posted similar but i've recently realised the need again. Budget is max 200.
It doesn't have to be awesome, just so its better than the standard tv speakers which isn't very hard, a bit of bass etc to make it a bit more cinematic. I'll get a picture up of the room I have to work with, not much really.

That is a 32inch tv, so as you can see not much space. on the right side it will have to be over teh door as there are wardrobes just out of shot.
Not really got anywhere for a amp as such as the dvd player is on a makeshift stool. Need some ideas.

But yeah, brilliant speakers for the size and price (can be picked up for £100) and you can get wall brackets for them (flushed fitting from behind each satellite speaker).
It's also RCA/Phono inputs (L, R & Centre - although centre speaker is optional extra), so it should be fairly straight forward to connect if your LCD has audio outputs.

They are good speakers though, room mate during second year uni (2 years ago) got a set and i was pretty impressed with them considering the size. The sub can be a little flabby though, but for the price i don't think you'll get anything better.
I know someone that got two sets so he could run a 5 channel setup (not 5.1 as there isn't a seperate LFE channel) and it worked really really well, a lot better than that Logitech 5.1 system that everyone bangs on about (which is sounds horrific).

I can't get it to work and I found this on the net which is the same panel but bigger, (mines the 32pg6000 Plasma)

The phono outs are the red white and yellow ones aren't they? if so I have them and i've tried but can't get them working. The setup guide that came with the speakers is laughable too.

I'm piss poor with this kind of stuff unless plug and play.
Also I got a rca scart converter box thing off the wiii that fitted in the scart and i hooked up the red and white wire but still no luck. When i turned tv up and amp thing on i could here it really slightly through the satellite speakers.

It hasn't got a headphone socket mine. I always seem to end up with awkward things.
Going to source a scart to phono out, think one i have must be an In. If that doesn't work i'm going to put an axe through the screen for being annoying.

 I have the scart to rca lead, I can get sound but only when I select the av1 as input, which means I am getting no picture and sound of a random channel. I can't see a way around it to be honest, I tried the dvd player which is connected through hdmi and that played its sound through the tv speakers whilst the new speakers were still playing the sound from the random channel.
I've scowered the menu's on the tv and nothing. Help much apprieciated but i'm starting to think that its just a stupid fucking TV.
Similiar happened when i bought a graphics card and spent about 8 days trying to set it up, only to find I had a motherboard that randomly wasn't compatable.

I've plugged them into the dvd player, and they are working with that, which I can live with. It's not essential that had them working with digital tv but would have been nice. I take it it isn't possible due to the tv, to get it to recieve from the inbuilt digibox, whilst outputting through the scart to the speakers?

The only output is the optical digital one and i can't find anything that convertes it to make it compatble.. It is an lg 32pg6000 plasma.

You can get converters (digital coaxial to optical etc) if a DAC doesn't have an optical in, so don't worry about that when looking at a DAC.
But keep an eye on some of those, the AMC and Zero should go fairly cheap but see if you can pick up a bargin and stay this side of £100 quid (would put you in your £200 limit as well).
However i have to admit, it starts getting a little serious when you're using external DACs

Surely there's an equal, if not better set up that takes an optical in for well within the 200 quid.

Have you looked at the Onkyo HTX22HD?
Excellent performer for the cash and had some excellent reviews, optical in aswell as HDMIs etc..
Also upgradeable to 3.1/5.1 just buy the extra speakers when you want them.

Speakers can go up on the wall out the road but you wouldn't even have to use all the speakers.
I just think something that comes with an optical in is a much better bet than buying 100 quid dacs.
Just had a look at that onkyo system, looks perfect.
He's got a sub anyway with that AE system so the onkyo doesn't add a seperate amp to the equation.
Just seen it's 300 quid
