As above
I don't want to go and get one now if a new one will be out in a couple of months or something.

They probably don't know.
It'll be announced next month at WWDC and they normally come out soon after.

Normally takes a couple of months after an announcement though, right?

Rumour has it it'll come out the same time as the update (Like the previous one did, apparently)
This is just what I'm told. I know nothing about iphones/apple.

That iphone nano never did happen. Bastards.
But at least we got to find out about a secret super phone to end all phones that ended up being the Blackberry Storm

Its not confirmed and therefore no-one will be able to tell you that its coming out.. no-one.
Its rumoured to be announced at the WWDC as John pointed out.
And in my opinion, its likely to be out within 3 months time.
Apple are very good at keeping people guessing and keeping secrets.

Although apple are very good at keeping things quiet there isn't really much to be guessed.
They release the same things at the same times every year and unless it's a totally new product they aren't really that different from what they supercede.
Most of what's in iphone OS 3.0 is already known and the iphone hardware will be slightly upgraded, that'll be it.

yes there is a new iphone out. official memos state september as being the month.
however, given that the palm pre, touch2 and other handsets are coming out, they may bring this date forward.
nokia have even slashed the price of the n97 to circa £390 to compete.
the £100 fee thing is bollox, as it hasnt been agreed on which network(s) will be having the iphone.
blackberry storm is a good handset, has sold a few, and is still being sold now. storm 2 is out soon as well.
on a more interesting note, it seems apple took quite an interest in the clickable touchscreen that was debuted on the storm.
the next 6 months, is going to be a killer in terms of mobile phones and the technology.
everyone will be seeing a lot of changes for the good.

The new storm doesn't have the click screen afaik so the only thing apple would have been interested in is how not to do it.

What's a clickable touchscreen? Is that like the alpine screens where it "pulses" back at you?

the second storm has been prototyped with a capacitive touchscreen and clickable to see which is more user friendly.
apple have approached RIM to allow a similar feature on their future ipods. but with patents and all that jizz it aint that simple. had quite an interesting session in slough last week with rim, checking some future ideas, i like capacitive touch screen actually. didnt think i would.

The whole of the storm screen clicks when you press it, an attempt at giving some tactile feedback.
It didn't go down to well with the majority from what i've seen though.

There's a lot of rumour about it not being tied to one network worldwide, good chance of it happening.

I've said it before that I would most probably buy one if they release it on other networks. I'm guessing quite a few other people will think the same too

Sorry, I cant see it myself.
As its been hugely successful, I should imagine o2 are going to pay what ever it takes to keep it on their network.
Only time will tell I guess
