If I have an old ISP account, lets say freeserve with an email address bart@freeserve.co.uk and I then setup with a new ISP and my new email address is bart@btconnect.com, If I setup an automatic mail forward at the freeserve end to forward all mail to the new mail address, can I assume that the original email will remain untouched, i.e it will still appear to come through from the original sender and not appear to be sent from bart@freeserve?

Sound silly I know...

If you click reply in your email client, you will reply using your default (or only) SMTP server, which will therefore come from bart@btconnect.com.

I dont think freeserve will forward you emails forever tho...

Its not actually for me, and the freeserve acocunt is a pay as you go dial up, so I cant see them stopping it. Its really only a temporary thing anyway until everyone starts using the new email address

I had a feeling it simply passed the message to the new address without touching it.

Ive only just actually ready what you asked. Yes, the message will be forwarded to you with the source address remaining intact.
