yeah i would maintain it, turbo cars arn't that hight maintinence anyway, service them every 3k

and not just anyone, id make sure it was a well known/spot on example..
but i do agree i would get one thats already been done tbh, works out cheaper aswell (as the one thats already been done will most likely have decent aftermarket parts fitted)
i havnt had a let, but i did have a cvh 'efi' turbo conversion (from a fiesta rst) in my escort mk4 bonus and i had nothing but problems, i mean thats the case will some peoples let conversions aswell..

yeah some people just have bad luck, my mate had a escort rs turbo 200bhp and he hammered it from when they key turned and he never had any problems

Not necessarily just the servicing like a normal car. I think it's more the point that they're tired old engines and tend to go wrong.

Indeed they do. I've spent a lot more on mine than I ever intended to do. The money I've spent does depress me about it a lot. But the smile it puts on your face when things are working properly, even if for a short while, makes it worth while.

Mine was fantastic, an absoloute hoot to drive. Id build one again deffo.
Just remember it WILL go wrong and you will need to spend money.
If you get an engine with no history or is a tired high miler/u cant hear it running then a rebuild is advised whilst engine is out.
Also renew as many sensors before you put the engine in, check the loom isnt split/corrosion on any wires.
Its worth it, but read up on all the project threads etc...

thank you jambo, the engine will be having a rebuild when i buy one, so it wont be tired out...im glad more people said yes than no

IMO its Deffo worth the hard work and money, but as said expect problems and deep pockets, But in any car with a good amount of power and fun you will be needing deep pockets.
ive only driven mine about 30 miles since its been on the road and its now off the road again. Bad times are made up when the good times are happening

there isnt a day goes by when i think i shouldnt have bothered. even in the bad times when ive had really bad luck with it, i still dont regret it for one minute. lately ive been having all sorts of little problems. but im not the type to worry about it. just get them fixed and sorted and jobs a good one.
ive had a c20let in mine for nearing 4 years. its covered probably just over 30k miles now in them 4 years. the money its cost me in that time i dont regret at all. i dont drink so save myself a fortune on a weekend.
the real question is why would you want a c20let. if your having doubts and wanting people to say yes its worth it, then id suggest not bothering. if your handy enough to work on it on your own, then its not so bad. but if it goes tits up and you cant sort it yourself, id leave it alone.

Fantastic cars. Would love one again. But don't think I ever will. The amount of problems and issues I had I gave up hope. Would rather now buy a car with its standard engine in. Ibiza Curpa R, Golf GTi etc.. Conversion's are just too much hassle tbh. But saying that.. If I had the know how and could do all the work myself, then it would be a completely different story.

i think thats the biggest factor in most of the ones that are still alive and kicking tbh. if you cant do the work, dont bother buying one, or paying for the conversion. thats my advice to anyone about any conversions. if its not a diy job, id just not bother unless your pockets are extremely deep.

That was my downfall tbh. If you are unable to do the work yourself don't even concider the conversion. I was always relying on others and without a car for more time than needed because of my lack of any kind of mechanical skills. If I could of done the work myself, I don't think i'd ever think of getting rid of it tbh. Fantastic when they work!

How come your gettin rid of yours mate you just fed up of it?
Ive learnt a lesson that you shouldnt be scared to mess with it and fix it yourself etc as all the people who know loads about engines etc had to start from the beggining too... this time around im gonna try and do all the work im able to myself and learn about the things im not sure about

I'm having a silly amount of bad luck with mine. Had so many problems, mainly little niggles.
Now i have encountered the biggeset problem with mine, It's either a piston ring or a burnt out valve.
I've spent sooo much on my corsa, i could have bought an e46 M3.
So much fun to drive when they work propperly, the smile mine has given me is something no other small hatch back could do IMO, makes all the hard work, blood, sweat & tears worth it.

Yeah I am. Very fed up of not having the car for long. Im not a mechanically minded person, thats it. I Havnt got the confidence to try either tbh. Id rather pay the money and know its done properly by people that do know. Hence why ive got rid.. as its an endless money pit because I fail at mechanics
