obviously wiht backy being over in florida i have been sending texts and making calls, but nothing seems to be added onto my bill (when i check what i currently have left and have spent on top of that) and tht information says it is correct as at 30/05/09 @ 15.00 so have i been incredibly lucky and not been charge (highly unlikely) or will it all just go on at the end?

yeh, but i would of thought (based on normally when i acidentally use the net or send a pictre a message the cost gets added straight away) just none of the texts or calls to abroad have been added yet

If she is using her uk phone and you are dialing a uk number it won't cost you anything extra.

That man speaks the truth. I was referring to calling/txting a foreign number.

When I was in Florida and phoning a mobile from home (using my mobile on o2) the costs got added on about 5 days later As for texts, for every text I sent 4 came out of my allowance and no extra was charged.
£90 bill sucks.

Get on Skype, free phone calls.
If you're on 3 mobile, they do stuff with Skype as well, so might be worth asking them about it

already inquired about that, its not free in the states so would have to buy some skype credit.
just called 3 about what john said as that sounds far too good to be true
Basically 3 to 3 (uk to usa)
costs the uk person 50p/minute and the usa person 90p a minute
3 to 3 (usa to uk)
costs usa person 1.40/minute and the uk person 90p/miunte (i think she said )
and as for it being added on to the bill it goes on after 2 months.

her laptops currently broke, got over there and it wont load past the xp loading screen, so her dad has posted out the disks to hopefully sort it, so once she has her laptop working then we do have msn and webcams, but till then its phonecalls or facebook chat (she has her ipod touch so can atleast get onto facebook.)

That's a strange setup from 3, any network i've ever had it's been the same as always to dial a uk number no matter where they are, it always costs the person abroad to receive the call.

The best thing to do in your situation (honestly) is to get her to get 2 american SIMs.
Get her to send you one, you pop it on in a phone and use $5 worth of credit say.
Then she can text you (to your american SIM) for next to nothing and you can text her for next to nothing as long as you text her UK SIM.

yeah 2 amereican sims wouldnt work as the amereican sim would be "roaming" when its being used in the uk any way.
but yeah it works like this if your in the UK and you ring an UK mobile number your always charged standard charge, the person recieving gets charged the roaming costs.

yep I live in Spain and have to deal with international calling a lot..basically if you call a phone with the same country code it charges you the same regardless of their geographical location. So thats probably why it isnt showing on your bill as its part of your inclusive minutes/texts?

just spoke to 3 again to see which was cheaper whether i called the american number or her uk number and she has just said that for me to call her uk number it just comes out of my allowances so i dont get charged but becky will get charged 35p to send a text (free to recieve) and costs 90p/min to recieve calls.
so in a way thats good as its only one phone bill to worry about.
