1.2 8v engine, we did a head gasket change the other day and today it was tapping in the engine as if it was the valves/tappets so we opened it up and sure enough there was no oil coming out the camshaft.

So it's probable that old gasket has blocked the oil from coming out or the oil pump has stopped working.

Any suggestions, hints, tips, help? cheers

Should have cleaned the faces before you fitted the gasket, just do a oil change, if that dont work your have to redo the HG.

dude, I'm sick of people telling me I fitted the gasket wrong because my dad did it and he has been a mechanic longer than you, also got the opinion of my grandad who has been:
A- a mechanic
B- An an MOT tester

for god knows how long. YEARS AND YEARS.

As far as I'm concerned I need to flush my systen free from mayo, unblock a blockage, replace water pump or something.

I just hate the way people come along and say "you should have done this". Because they don't have a clue what method or routine I used to remove all the bits to get to the head gasket OR they don't know any symptons.

It's fuck all to do with the HG btw. My HG is absolutely spot on, as is the valves and the pistons. It's not the valve timing either, because we have checked that. It's just blocked somewhere most probably (as we changed HG days ago) but more unlikely is that the oil pump is gone

Sorry to be blunt but If you are an MOT tester and a Mechanic why are you asking on here?

seems t me if ya gonna ask 4 help y kick off wen sum one is tryin t help ya and if u had done it properly it would b workin properly now wouldnt it

I'm not an MOT tester or mechanic, read what I put. Sorry I got pissed off.

We've stripped it and a bit of the old gasket fell down the oil feed pipe.

Redoing HG today. Thanks anyway

There. Job done, she's running sweet as a nut, took a while for the tappets to stop tapping because it obviously takes a few minutes to fill up.
