hi all just had my c20let rebuilt by chris astley for £900 new cam belt new rings new rods with arps barings mains crank grind cambelt block decked and honed new cosmetic head gasket....alll of this is put together now and the car is running
the problem im having is that the car will smoke alot when cold, thick white smoke on idle but once hot it will die down....also while driving when i let off the gas the car will pop and splutter on die down of revs and kick out alot off smoke its fine on boost or constant revs, i checked my turbo there is side to side play in the shaft but no in or out
any help appricaited thanks.

surely white smoke would 'maybe' indicate HG?#
does the smoke smell oily? did he do the stem seals? just that price seems a little cheap, as tbh these days id be very suprised if the block was within tolerances to keep the stock size pistons with rings.
did he do anything headwise?

didnt do anythin head wise only got the head skimmed, yea am still running it in done about a 100miles in it

ah....didnt know you wwere running it in.
what oil are you using? and whats your idea of running it in? as ideally you need to be drivng it on boost to get the rings to bed in properly!

jus blocked the oil feed off the turbo for a few mins and the smoke stoped instantly so im gussing it is turbo? running it in on mineral oil which is what i got told to do
so any1 sellin a spare turbo lol?
