I would assume if he has any sense he means hearing someone bounce off a limiter at around 3.5k?

you get 2 stage rev limiters which you can prob call launch control of sorts.
1st stage, foot the floor and the engine will hold revs at 6000 or so and build boost or whatever, light go green and you switch to stage 2 and get fulls revs back...
Would really call that launch control though.
You hear that popping and banging on the starting line with the likes of Keith Cowies R32 etc

Im not to clued up on this so bear with me but i always thought launch controle was as some one said car hold revs at say 4k then once going get full rev range but when ever they sit at line never hear them revving just idling? As in some videos here them bouncing off limiter then they lauch, If iv got it wrong could some one explain?

oh ok so not needed on n/a cars as dont need to get the turbo spooled like you would in a turbo car? If that's the right way of putting it?

Launch control depends on the application and the system. some cars just have a lower rev limiter in first. Others with a more technical approach use computers for a full throttle launch. IE you hold your foot flat down and the ecu will control clutch slip, power transmitted to rear wheels by use of the abs system for a kind of traction control etc to ensure maximum power is transferred to the wheels with minimal loss of traction.
M3 CSL's have a good system, so do the nissan gtr's iirc.
It has no real sound:

Unlike my launch control:

launch control is just an automated foot and clutch..... no one 'needs' it just helps some
most folk can hold a car on the line at 4000 revs and dump the clutch, or slip the clutch to get a good launch. BUT when you have 1000 odd hp I imagine there isnt much time to do that between holding on and trying to stop

Depends on the system Adam. A good launch control setup will retard the ignition and hold the revs at a set level, with full throttle, as long as the clutch is depressed, then when you release it, it slowly feeds the ignition timing back in until it's back where it should be, controlling the wheelspin off the line.
