Thinking of getting a new bike...again. Keep saying I'm going to buy one & then don't 
No clue what to buy, only going off what I used to know many moons ago. Are Specialized still good?
It'll be mainly for just rural off-road riding, but maybe a bit of road riding tom get to those parts. Don't think I'd need a full suspension jobby?

But then they have better models with disc brakes etc. Not sure if I need it?
Some places do 0% finance which is kind of handy. Means I could maybe spend a bit more on one if it's worth it?

£550 quid for a push bike.....christ i'm getting old.....in my day £550 would buy one with a 600cc engine....

Get one with hydraulic discs all round. If you get into regular off road riding you will regret not having them.
And yes Specialized are still good. You dont need a full suspension, a hardtail will be fine. Although having said that I plan to get a specialized full sus next summer now I've got into biking even more.
The Hardrock Pro will be a good bike. If you wanted to save a bit of money you could get the 2009 model here. pretty much the same spec but in last years colours...

I went to have a look earlier
It would be nice to have one with hydraulic brakes but I don't think it's worth it for me. Normal discs is enough
They had a Hardrock Sport in white which looked nice & they had a Hardrock Sport Disc in red which was also nice but the white looked better
They're identical except the disc brakes & the spindles in the wheel are uprated. It's £70 difference & I'm not sure what to do

You can get the sport disc in black if you prefer it?
I'd go for the sport disc, at least you get disc brakes even if they are mechanical not hydraulic.

My new bike I went for in black, looked much nicer in white but the black was more subtle, slightly less of a target for being nicked.

All 2010 specialized hardrocks came out on friday ALL of them so there all available, i spoke to specialized on thurs, and there on there b2b site too

Oh and also, the specialized crosstrail might be worth looking at, whats youre inside leg measurement and how tall are you??

about 5 ft 9 ish maybe 5 ft 10
Not got lanky legs though. Was looking at a 19" frame in the shop, 17" seemed a bit small but the guy said it was better to go for the larger one on the hardrock

The hardrocks are alright bikes
Id say the crosstrail is alot better though
Espeaialy the 2010 crosstrail
Hydrolic (sp) disks arnt needed mate unless your going to get into heavey mountain biking then there not needed
Its alot of money to add on for something you dont need
Not to mention the hastle they are if they break
P.s. Id go for the one that seems most comfortable. Even if that turns out to be a 15" or what ever. You need to be cumfortable on the bike or theres no point in it realy

Base model looks a bit basic on the Crosstrail?
Are you pretty clued up on them? Maybe you could tell me what's actually different between the '10 Hardrock sport dic & the '10 comp disc?

well me and jacko both work in a bike shop
i have for 3 years now and he has for like 1 and a half so we know quite alot tbh haha
im just poping out atm but ill have a look at it later
or get jack to look at it in a mo for you and tell you the differences

Looks like it's just hydraulic adjustments on the forks? & a slightly different spec of wheel?

Link doesnt want to load, the crosstrail is deffinatly a good bike.
As i say tho, lots of the 09 bikes have sold out, and at the moment im not too sure on when the 2010 crosstrails are out! I can give them a call tomorrow if you like tho?

Probaby won't be going for a Crosstrail, it'll be one of the hardrocks. Just dunno if it should be the sport disc or comp disc?

To be totaly honest, the sport is exactly the same bike as the comp.
The comp has sram x-5 rear mech, and the sport has the x-4 mech.
But, i do say to alot of people, if you spend what you have got, you will probably be happier with youre choice

Spoke to a guy on the phone earlier & he was proper trying to talk me into buying a Rockhopper over the Hardrock. Nowt to do with them being twice the price I'm sure

Specialized Hardrock. Can't rate them enough.
Keep an eye out on eBay. I managed to pick up a ladies specific one (for the missus) that was completely mint, it really was/is as new, for £125!
