Been wanting a road bike for a while, already got a mountain bike for the rough stuff but I'm trying to get even fitter so I can do longer, tougher rides and maybe entering a challenge later this year so wanted a road bike as they are very good for building up leg muscles.
Pick it up Tuesday! Its a Specialized Allez Sport
along with a helmet, shimano road shoes, pedals and clips, saddle bag, spare inner tubes, multi-tool, mini pump, specialized sunglasses, a white jersey, black bib shorts ( ) and a wireless cycle computer.
I might even use it to bike to work on seen as though I got it through my companies bike to work scheme

some of the extras are what I would say are essentials, some are just because I wanted them anything I can pass of as essential or safety related I get on the B2W scheme so minimum 30% off. So I class things like the sunglasses as safety related

thats partly why I got it gavin. I go out once a week with the lads from work off road but I want to go out more than that to get really fit.
1. off road is a bit dodgy if you come off when you are on your own in the middle of nowhere
2. mountain bike tyres are a bastard on road like you say
3. I get a good deal through my company on the bike
took it for a quick spin today on the roads near the bike shop and its rapid on road compared to my MTB

£630 approx. for everything except the bib shorts, jersey and cycle computer. Those are the only bits I cant wangle through the scheme so had to pay for them myself.
Bike alone is £733.99 if I was to buy it at full price

Yer they are so easy its unreal
I thought when I fitted slicks to the xc bike for the london to brighton it was quick but then I trialed a road bike and was like
Plus now I am using the bike to get to work I am regretting spending £50 on decent mtb tyres and seeing them go to waste

My commute to work will be about 15 miles each way but its not something I will be doing every day. Just as and when I feel like it and the weather is fine
I'll be riding it more once I get home from work in the evenings.

Matty did you get it from Evans?
How tall are you and what frame size did you go for?

Yeah I got it from Evans. I'm about 6ft 3inches. Got the 61cm frame. Tried a 58 but it was slightly too small.
Only thing is if you were after this particular bike you might struggle getting it from Evans as they have sold out of them in their warehouse, its just what they have left in other stores now. They ordered this one in for me from another store down south

His other kit is light blue, hence the light blue on his bike. I think he has gone white a black as he also has a track bike and that is white and black. I wouldn't mind a racer myself but i've given him that much stick over the years it wouldn't be worth the ear ache!
