Thought i would start a project thread since the Corsa is taking a different direction from my original plan. I bought it with the intention of just running it around but i really am not interested in having a modified road car anymore. For the last 3 or 4 years i have wanted to start taking part in both sprints and hillclimbs but have never had a good car to do so, i was going to build the Nova into a competition car but it simply needs too much money thrown at it and due to the amount of welding it needs it just IMO wouldnt be a good shell to start thrashing about.

Here is the Corsa the day after i bought it....

I got bored of the 1.2 after about 5 minutes and decided to drop my C16SE 1600 8v engine in, with a standard power from the factory of 100bhp, they are very strong engines and ive owned it for well over a year so i know its a good one.

So i got the old 1.2 8v ready to drop out...which isnt the hardest job in the world to say the least...

Quick shot of it's replacement....

1.2 gone...

New engine in!

Tarted it up a bit as it didnt look great

Got carried away and started cleaning the engine bay as well

Now this is when i decided to change the direction the car was going so began losing excess trim and weight...

Gave the bare floor a paint, dosent look amazing but it will do the job for just now

Here is the ride height after removing the carpet and sound deadening (which weights a tonne!)

Today i received a few bits and pieces from PR Motorsport, they were - an FIA Battery cut off switch, Scrutineer decal sheet, Competition bonnet pins and door number backing sheets.

Going to track it i think but im going to build it primarily for competition use. Wont be competitive to begin with but at least that way i can get a feel of the whole thing and upgrade in the future.

So it mounts straight in on the corsa mounts, looking like a good starting base

Yup, there was some wiring but it is exactly the same as wiring an XE into a Corsa/Nova so theres plenty guides available.

Engine was from a MK3 Astra, i changed the engine mount for the one from the Corsa engine. Car originally had an SPI engine so wiring was exactly the same as that of a 2.0 XE conversion (only 5 or so wires to join colour to colour).

ECU mounts in exactly the same place as the original. All PAS pipes fit streight onto the Astra pump.

You will also need to get an MPI pump, im using an external one from a Nova GSI as the Astra pump is an in tank and does not fit.

If theres anything else your needing to know U2U me but overall its a really easy conversion.

just for ease of conversion you could of used a 1.4 8v corsa wiring harness and ecu. everythings plugs straight in !! my corsa was a 1.6 8v with a 1.4 sri head on the 1.2 box. i had to use a different head to the 1.6 8v one because the engine i had was spi and had square inlet ports and the sri inlet manifold was round port. the 1.4 sri head brings the compression up by a mile but didnt run very well so i would advise finding a round port 1.6 head . and as for the fuel pump a corsa sport in tank pump will do the job just fine
