there was no evidence to suggest any wrong doing although imo he probably was. therefore he can't be charged with anything. his insurance will cover any damage repairs so what's the issue?

he crashed a car, get over it 
at the end of the day, you don't expect him to be driving a corsa so if hes going to have an accident, it's gonna wipe out an expensive car.

My dad has crashed twice. Both times police were on the scene, and they never even thought about trying to charge him for anything.
They know that accidents happen.

My mate did the same thing a few months ago but got 6 points for it, was even proved that he was doing 24-27 mph at the time but just slid off the road
Making an example of a young lad in an impreza, yet a similarly aged Ronaldo in a ferrari gets nothing

You rarely just slide off the road tbh.
I was only doing about 30 when I hit the wall, that was only because the bridge that sent me into a spin slowed me down from 90, at the time I said it wasn't my fault.
It was though.

I crashed my old mk3 astra into a rock at the side of the road after taking a jump rally stylee like a bellend:
It got dumped in a field next to where it happened (as above) by a mate that's a farmer. The police came to the door, asked if everyone was ok from it, which we were and they left it at that. It got burnt out the next day and they didn't even say anything about that either.

tbf i bet when they measured his skid marks it will have showed he was going quite a speed.
