I'm staying in the East near St.Gallen (below Lake Constance):

Last time I went round that lake into Austria and Germany. But I want to do something else this time.

So far I've thought of:

- Day trip to Zurich. Could get boring though, as I don't know what to do there.
- Cross the border into Liechenstien. To do what I'm not sure!
- Venture deeper into Germany
- Go to Santis or Appenzell and have a ganders round the mountains.

I have to do something as where I'm staying is a little village with feck all to do.

My uncle lives right near Friedrichshafen in Germany, which is just over the border from where you're going. Been there once and its a very nice place. Lots of mountains to walk up if you like that thing. Near to him there is a tobogan thing that goes down a massive hill and thats quite a laugh. I'll find out the name of it. Very scenic place.

There's others on my course. But chances are on the weeknd I'll be on my own. I'm going over for 2 courses, one lasts 5 days, the other 4. So most will be only doing the first course and will be flying home on the Saturday.

You NEED to go to the Eagles Nest in Austria. It was Hitler's 50th birthday present from the Nazi party. If you have seen Band of Brothers then you will know what I mean. They do tours and I really really want to go. You seem ideally situated to visit

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

On reflection, it is quite a drive away

That is exactly what I was going to suggest, although I'm sure there is some Nazi gold in Lake Constance you could go looking for. Rumours are that the amber room could also be deep down inside that lake and a whole host of other stolen/borrowed treasure looted from Europe in the good years of the Third Reich.
