does anyone know if it would work out cheaper to book a flight and a hotel separately i.e from different companys? and is this reliable? thanks

imo, if your going away next year then i would bother looking till a few months before, prices will change loads between now and then although saying that it depends where your planning on going.

holidays to america tend to get more expensive the closer to it where as holidays to europe tend to get cheaper the closer you get.

Depends on how she is paying for it. I'm sure it's hard saving money when you have a couple of kids

true, spose looking now gives you a rough estimate but like i said prices tend to drop closer to the time aswell.

If your on about booking your hol seperately, its generally (in my experience) better to book your flights when they are released. EasyJet for example release their summer flights around Sept / Oct time
If your after sorting your own accomodation then holiday lettings (for villas & private apartments etc) is good, or alpha rooms is good for apartments on complexes etc
