Thinking about this logically I think for what I want I'd be better off with a scooter, thinking about going back to my youth but getting an Aprilia SR125, mainly for going back and forward to work, they are a bit more reliable than the RS as they aren't as highly strung.
Accelration is awesome and de-restricted they will do 80mph.
But I'm wondering if I'd look like a remedial riding around on a scooter at 26
Damien? Opinons.
Sod it.

I'm gunna be buying my gf's brother Honda C90 soon!
For that reason, popping to work and the shops, little local journeys that make no sence taking and parking a car.

Can you get classic looking scooters (Lambretta & Vespa's) but with modern engines?
They are the only scooters I would entertain

Why do you care what other people think?
If it makes sence to you (obviously saving money, time and bit of a laugh), why bother what anyone else thinks.

Would you get in much trouble if you got caught riding one without the L plates on and only had your CBT, not full bike license?

Is it cold up there on your high horse
Matty, a lot of trouble, technically you don't have th elicence to ride it thus insurance would be invalid - 6 points +

Even on a horse with all the horsey get-up you wouldnt look half as much of a cunt as you would on a moped!

Intelligent input from Davey once again.
You can get low mileage SR125's for £600
Seems they can't shift them as the 16 Y/O can't ride them and anyone older would prefer something less racey.

How many miles do you travel to work ollie?
Think about it, You have to buy, tax, insure, clothing etc which will probably set you back £1000.
£1000 in fuel for your car? How long would that last?
125 scooters are pretty fun

Got the money already for the bike/insurance & CBT so that isn't an issue, outlay is fairly small for the saving I'll make.
I just don't want to keep putting miles on the Astra and want something I can have a giggle on, plus scooters are better in the winter when it's raining, keep your knees dry.

I toyed with learning to ride a scooter for about 3 seconds... Basically long enough to say to myself "no, it's gay"
So did my CBT and rode around on a CG125 for 12 months before getting my DAS done and getting rid of my L-plates. The CG did well over 100MPG even with me on the back (and I'm not exactly a small lad)
Then again, I personally can't stand the noise a 2stroke makes, hence going for a geared 4stroke.

Learning to ride? They are awesome and so much fun to ride.
I've made my mind up, only a couple on biketrader though and they are to cheap to be any good, surely?

LESS Racey? Thats like saying a standard zimmer frame is LESS racey than one with blue handles and a yellow stripe!

If its just going to be used for commuting and short journeys then a scooter would be a better option, easier to ride in traffic, keeps your knees dry and they have underseat storage which is always handy.
I know plenty of people in their 30's - 40's who still ride scooters and they also have RSV's, ZX10's, porsches and bmw's in their garages.
But if its going to be used for fun as well a scooter isnt anywhere near as much fun as a bike. SR125's are good but exhausts for them are so bloody expensive and they go through them once every 3 years. belts and rollers need doing once a year too so they arent as cheap to run as you would like to think. they are bloody fast though! A better bet is the modern day 4 stroke equivalent which is the aprilia sport city 125. Big wheels, with the rear pegs out has an aggressive riding position and handle very well, i actually had a KD on one everytime i went round a specific corner in lincoln.

I had a lot of fun on my SR50 when all the lads had RS50, I could zip through traffic and could brake later and handle better than them even though their bikes were about 8mph faster (it's a lot in 50cc terms)
Found a couple of SR125 quite local. Do Aprilia not make them anymore Dizzy?
