already got Spyware Doctor that iv paid for, thats quite good but not aimed more at spyware/malware rather then virus / trojans

doesnt have to be free

Aye, latest version is just a resource hog.

If you're after a free AV, then Avast or Avira are currently the best in the ratings. If you don't mind paying then Nod32 is currently at the top.
