well since getting them mo's off 3i_gaz, i need new tyres for the fronts. today ive tried to get r888's but toyo are out of stock and they are on back order due in again in a few weeks to a month possibly. no date is what the word is.

i can get hold of yoko a048r's which yokohama have in stock and can get them next day. ive not tried the yoko's, but a local place that does parts for rally and track cars swears by them.

so what im asking is, anyone tried both? anyone tried the yoko's and have any comments to make? ideally i want to order the yoko's tomorrow morning so i can get them on and start setting the car up asap. if its better to wait for the toyo's then thats fine i guess. will put the speedlines back on for a bit.

opinions, thoughts, views on each tyre or a comparrison between the 2?

many thanks.

the r888's have lasted me quite well to be fair. had them over 2 years now.

not really convinced that the tyre that lasts the longest would be ideal for what i need either.

So you have just bought new wheels and they already need new tyres? Sounds like some irresponsible driving to me!

well no, they dont need them in the case of the tyres have loads of tread left. as currently they do, albeit significantly less than when they were first fitted to the car. they need better tyres should i say.

when we went to coombe not on car that i saw lined up in the pits was on a048's they all had r888's

i have no basis for opinion though as i have never used either

the yoko's are more expensive than the toyo's maybe some of the reasons why more people seem to use them.

they are good.

I'm comparing these to the £25 per corner tyres we run on the road wheels.

yes, thats where they will be coming from if i am to order them tomorrow

oh, 185/50/14 is more of a common size in terms of this kind of tyre aswell so they will be cheaper.

only ever have the yokos on the back...

reasons R888's are so popular is due to the cost i think, i paid £82 for one tyre

but i know someone who can get them for £67 a tyre

i can get them fitted and balanced for cheaper than that

but anyway, seems most people use toyo's, seems most of the reasons are the cost of the yoko's. i cant find anything bad said about the yoko's on the net really. im stuck for a few weeks to a month maybe more if i dont buy the yoko's.

maybe wait and go back to 16's for a bit. i dont ken.
