I kind of want a better idea of what bike to go for when i finally do my test etc etc.

I've gotta say there are so many bikes i like the LOOK of

Ones that stick in my head are....These are maybe too sporty..

GSXR 750
Ninja's
Ducati 748
Yam R6

I really want my wife to go on the bike eventually so it's gonna be more like...

Bandit
Fazer
Some other sit up and beg type ride

I've found a few bikes around the 3K mark that fit the bill but ideally i just want a comfortable...quick..easy to ride machine that will get me used to biking but still looks the part.So maybe the Fazer/Bandit is the one?

Also i'm sick to death of my family/friends etc telling me not to get one

748 everytime!

I had an R6 before and loved it, but theres so much more to the 748 - elegance, class, soul etc etc.

Dunno if you can get one for 3k, but if so..... APRILIA TUONO!!!! if not an SL falco is a great allrounder and you should get one under 3k.

ducati monster, kawasaki z750 - z1000 are other options too

please dont get a gsxr have you seen how many are about?? its insane

id opt for a sportsbike so much fun

i have the triumph because its more "exclusive"

to give you an idea i paid £2700 for mine, it has 5k on the clocks one owner from new FTSH, racing carbon exhaust.. its immaculate like new...

its a good bike because its not tiny like a proper sportsbike but its not massive...

for you id suggest a sports tourer if you want some practicality as well as performance...

The old ones Are very good, not great to look at but to ride they are amazing, proper hooligan missile but they are comfortable mile munchers too if you ask it of them. Test ride one please, you will not be disappointed.

I used to work for aprilia, but we servied all makes and models, working with them day in day out usually you hate the things, but aprilias are just good bikes - italian flair, style and passion with austrian reliability - you really cant go wrong with one.

Monsters are ok but a little slow, and the jap stuff is shit unless you buy a z1000.

Maybe look at a honda blackbird if you want something silly fast, or a honda cbr600F if you want something thats a good allrounder.

i love the unfaired ones... would be good to start off with,,, as youll still get a lot of power but retain some practicality.

Even a 400cc bike (or a 250cc 2T) will scare the life out of you unless you're used to a 400bhp car so I really wouldn't go too extreme. A 600cc is plenty, but there's no need to be wanting a 750cc at the moment IMO.

A few guys I knew had R1's and so on, and I had my R6. They called me a girl and so on, but it still indicates 176mph and I've seen 148mph on one wheel -- you really don't need much more.

3k

Look for a 2001/2002 CBR 600F

A friend has one, and its alight to go on the back of (and im a tall youth) so your bird will piss it. Some of them evenhave a grab bar on the back!

A friend has one, had it 4 years i think, and done about 12k on it (the bike has done 18k) and he has never spenta penny on it bar the usuall wear and tear (chain, tires, pads etc)

All good in the hood!
