Hi Guys,
My Sport has started playing around.
Basically, when driving and coming to a stop I put my foot on the clutch and the revs drop so it nearly stalls. It then revs itself so the engine doesnt stall and then goes back to normal after a second. It did it driving yesterday but the engine stalled whilst driving after puting my cluctch down.
It doest it a couple of times aday but only stalled for the first time yesterday.
Dont no if its a sensor playing around?
All ideas/help would be great. It as its MOT at 2.15pm anyway
Thanks!

Hmmm I was thinking the usuall suspects - ICV or even EGR, well that was my problem when I had similar symptoms to what you have said.

What are ICV and EGR? Where would they be located and how much?
Sorry, I really dont have a clue about cars!

Idle control valve - located on side of throttle body.
Exhaust gas recirculate (sp) valve - underneath lower inlet, it's mare to change
Can't remember off the top of my head the prices, I know the EGR is in excess of £100 from Vaux, but I wouldn't go buying bits unless you know exactly what the problem is.

Bit of an update on this:
Basically it started to behave itself again after I put this up. Went to holiday in Newquay and put 1000miles on the car with no problems/issues or anything.
Anyway, the car struggled to start Friday night and the EML was on. I turned it off then back on and it was fine.
Just leaving the works carpark now and it stuggled to start again and the EML was on. Turned it off then on and it was still there.
The revs are sitting around 1000rpm on Idle and it sounds a little bit ruff.
Any ideas? Im guessing I should get it plugged in to see what it brings up? How much does that cost?
Thanks in advance!

Try the Paper Clip Test, saves spending silly money on diagnostic computer test.
Someone will help if you don't understand the results.

Hello again Ellis lol
I will give that ago on my lunch break. I will take a video and upload it and see what everyone thinks.
What happens if there is more than one code to read? Or even if there is nothing to read?
Thanks!

If the light is on there is a fault code present as far as I am aware.
Sequence starts with a start up code I think, and then flashes the codes and dot-dash way, I've never done it myself so I can't help further than that.
Maybe worth having a bit of paper to write the sequence down.

I have just done it and it was flashing away. I recorded it on my phone. I will upload it when I get back from work.
How do you work it out from the flashes?

This for example - flash, pause, flash, flash = code 12 - 1 flash a pause then 2 flashes.
Code 12 is that start up code IIRC.

I got 10 flashes then a paus then 3 flashes then a pause then 3 flashes then a pause then 5 flashes then a pauss. The EML would then go off for around a second or two then repeat the above.
So looking at the chart it would meen fault 0335, but:
Some ECU systems will also show code 0335 because it doesn't see the engine turning over, this is not a fault because you haven't started the car. Simply start the engine and read the fault codes again. If 0335 shows again while the engine is on, then its a fault. To find out what fuel system you have, read the "Fault Code Chart" below.
So im guessing you need the engine running?! Bloody thing!

Well as said above it came up with fault '0335' which means I need to turn the engine on to get the fault. But when I do that the EML just goes mad. I found the Tigra fault codes as that has the X16XE engine in.
0335 on the tigra code means 'Crank Sensor'
So would the symptoms im having relate to that?
How much is a crank sensor? Where are they located/how do I get to it? Is it an easy job?
Bloody thing!

Doubt its that as its ok atm. Its being plugged in properly on Friday so I will see what the outcome is.
The paperclip test keeps flashing up Crank Sensor and by the looks of it on here it apperently does that all the time anyway?
