Sounds like a decent price as a stop gap tripod to leave in the car on the offchance you may need one.
Anyone know how much a D300 and a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 weight? I think it may be over the 2kg limit for this tripod

Good call, i've been after a cheapo tripod for ages just to try some things out, will have a nose around ASDA tomorrow, they had a cheap gazebo there too (not for photography)

When I started I got a £20 Velbon plastic tripod from John Lewis with a 5KG max-load and for everything I've used it for its been great.
That said, I much prefer using my metal manfrotto monopod

Looks similar to the one I got from Argos for £20. Pretty sturdy things for the price imo
Price has gone up since I bought mine http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5707322/Trail/searchtext%3ETRIPOD.htm
