Will she use all the functions of a d90 though?
Quite a serious camera to just have for the odd snapshot.

tbh this thread isnt needed if she atall knows anything about photography and cameras as she will be able to decided herself if she could put the d90 to use with its full potential, if not get a 400d or 60

if she's doing a course then i reckon the best bet would be to get a d60 and spend the rest on a good tripod, spare batteries, filters, mem cards, bag etc.
if she has 700 quid then she'll get a great setup if she does what i suggested, instead of blowing it all on a d90.
or maybe even get a macro lens with the left over money. the course my mate is doing seems to revolve heavily around macro shots so that could be a way to go.
