Are these "promo" cd's actually genuine, or has someone knocked up a cover and got some printable CD-R's?

Especially the ones that say "ultra rare" etc.

my mate used to email loads of record companies saying he was a reviewer for a music mag and they'd send him loads and loads of unreleased albums etc. he'd sell them on ebay and earn a bunce. It could well be they are genuine and you should be able to tell if the pictures are clear enough

you can get 'promo' cds on usenet/torrent and the likes, i imagine some will be burnt and printed cases.
