Any one using aftermarket management? I've been recommended to use emerald. But another friends disagrees? Anti lag anyone?

omex mate. just down to the customer service you get. Ive got mates with both dta and omex and are both boss cars but dta just dont want to know you after you have bought the management. if i go aftermarket, im going omex

Also to be fair, i dont know anyone with any other management so cant comment

When I was looking into it, Omex ticked all the boxes and was recommended.

Barnes is on Emerald and seems to be very happy with it.

All comes down to what your nearest mapper uses and advises. I run Autronic, apparently its very user friendly but i cannot comment as i have no interest in having a go myself.

emerald does everything i want it to. its cheap enough and can store 3 maps in the ecu at one go. 3 seperate maps unlike other ecu's.

things that it doesnt have is launch control and traction control, although it has the inputs for it and is just a software update away.

dta is very good. very user friendly and probably the easiest to map with the control knobs that ive ever seen.

its as draper says. the place thats going to map it, see what they use and like the most and get that. sometimes its no good having some set up that nobody can map properly apart from a handful of places and the gains to be minimal compared to commonly mapped ecu's that any place can map. imho of course.

fella that maps mine prefers dta. my wallet preferred emerald. ive no complaints about it and it works really well on mine.

oh, also these phase chips are utter shite. you notice this when you get mappable managment.

imagine not having an ecu light come on for over a year. imagine no faults or hesitations from the ecu side of things. pleasant.

DTA for me as thats what my mates rolling road prefer/supply too. but tbh most after marcket ECU's are good, just dont bother with the cheap megasquirt or alpha crap.

everthing. no mafm, no amal valve so boost control is better.. and being mappable gives the engine better efficiancy and running ect. also you can squeeze more power than a chip... also as nic says, no eml lights and silly sensor issues

Depends what your prepared to spend and what you want, plus how you've prepared your engine/turbo etc...
On my last LET I went with Wallace Performances' Evo6 management, but you will have to do some crazy things in order to use it to it's potential.

Give them a call 01224 708444

well you still can run amal valve. mine uses a gm boost solenoid. it just doesnt have any issues and behaves itself perfectly well.

on my emerald with the 3 maps. i have a switch on dash for them. map 1 is 0.6bar, map 2 is 1bar and map 3 is 1.5bar. with it running a boost solenoid, ie amal valve, you dont manual change boost. it does it when you change the switch to a different map. its grand i tells you.

theyre all pretty much the same. the emerald isnt that expensive and is pretty good. but it basically goes back to saying ask whoever is going to map it what they prefer to use, then get that.

no point getting something nobody can map easily and needs the car taken miles away to some special place that seem to have the only mystical powers to map that specific ecu in the land etc.

budget and who is going to map it is where id start at what your going to look at.
