Picking up a new car sunday and need it taxed. Questions have probably been asked and answered loads of times but anyway :
1) Would i be able to tax it now online using insurance number when the insurance starts on the 26th July.. or will it come up as no valid insurance?
2)Would the seller be able to tax it online/or post office using a temporary insurance document of 1week? he seems to think you cant tax a car with temp insurance.
3) And im correct if online it can be driven straight away without the tax disk on display or is it a case of waiting for it to come through post?
Cheers.

Not sure about the first two, but there is a 5 days grace period from when the tax ran out to drive without it whilst you wait for it to arrive. This only applies if you order by phone or online. If you get stopped, i think you have to provide proof that it's been ordered. After the five days, you can't drive it.

luke if your insurance documents have come through just take the certificate of motor insurance and use the little green slip that you will have from the log book

it takes upto 2 weeks for them to update the system so that you can tax it online. theres more chance you will get your docs through before you can do it online

So the temp insurance thing, are you able to get tax with it?
I bought a car yesterday, with no tax, need to get it insured to tax it, It'll cost me £75 for 1 month, while I sort out the other car, and then transfer insurance to the new one.
So i'll be temp insured for 1 month, that should be fine to get tax?

By the look of google answers, I should be able to tax it with temp insurance, but i'll double check at the post office tomorrow, no point me wastin £75 for a month if i can't
the other thing is, i have my part of the V5, and the other part has been sent off, does that mean i'm officially the new owner, and should be able to just take in my part of the v5?
